Just a quick post here.

I hadn't planned on picking up a mk3 body right away, but Colton over at Headshots had a couple of bodies left after they filled all of their pre-orders. 

Ryan & I did the unboxing yesterday.

The pros for video: timecode, less compression on the H264, file naming,  and consistent HDMI output.  While timecode and file renaming may not seem like the most important features to most, it make a big difference to the people that you hand the file to down the line.  2 less steps that a data tech has to work around. Having a a consistent 1080i output makes the body a lot more friendly to sdi conversion boxes, a much happier playback tech, and les lag on the client feeds.

Its also got a big AF boost.  So many more tracking points. 

The cons-

The price?  Yes $3700 seems high compared to the $2200 that you can get a mk2 for but the original list for that cam in 2008 was in the $2700.

While some are poo pooing the megapixels, this is really a body meant to update the video features that were holding the 5D mk2 back.

The files.  At the moment C1 doesn'd support the cam + files.  AND if you want to use EOS utility mak sure youre not on LION. 

Stills support is at least 30 days away.
